I also am waiting for the close-in fee to be waived after getting the Club card.
It's been a few years now, but once I changed over to the Club Card, my close-in booking fee disappeared from my searches within a few weeks. It wasn't instant. I can always tell if I didn't sign in, because the fee amounts jump out at me.
