Agree. Nobody will do this on other airlines due to cancellation/change costs. (unless they buy full price refundable tickets of course)
Even with fully refundable tickets, other carriers such as UA, DL, and AA all prohibit impossible and fraudulent ticket purchases, generally defined to be tickets which the passenger does not, at the time the ticket is purchased, intend to fly.
