On most if not all AA planes, exit rows are classified as MCE (Main Cabin Extra) rows. Well, if you don't like the features of eixt rows, and legroom is not the #1 concern for you, then pick a non-exit row of MCE for the same price (or non-price, if you're Plat or above).
I think the OP might want to know how the other rows of MCE compare to the exit rows on each of these planes. Unfortunately for that purpose, I always sit in exit rows, I haven't sat in non-exit MCE on AA in years, so I can't offer up any data in this respect.
But I did compare Alaska (AS) Premium row 6 to Alaska exit row on two directions of flights (though each direction was a slightly different variant of 737), and I found the seat cushion in the Premium row 6 to be way more
uncomfortable for me than the exit row seat cushion (on either AS or AA), even though some people complain about exit row seat cushions too. So on that basis, I would at least suggest you not
assume that movable armrests
alone make for a better seat. A movable armrest but a poorer seat cushion made for what at least I considered to be a way worse seat than the fixed armrest and the standard seat cushion. But then, I'm a person concerned with legroom but not particularly concerned with seat width.
