My new MN license took almost two months to arrive by mail. In another week, I would have needed to return to the license bureau and get the renewal paper stamped to get an extension. (This is what I was instructed to do by the manager of the license bureau I used. I called to ask about the missing new license after more than a month and was told that this was an option if the new one didn't arrive before the expiration of the temporary paper, which BTW is good only in combination with the old photo license.) I'm not sure whether this is part of the ongoing computer problem the state agency is having.

BTW I went to renew it especially far in advance because I suspected that there could be a delay due to the computer mess.
