I’d be surprised if QF have any spare aircraft ready to be used incase of irrops. They’ll happily put pax onto other scheduled flights and perhaps shuffle flights if a problem so they can “create” a plane, but having one sitting round just waiting to be used - I doubt it.
Mine was a sarcastic comment towards QF's recent cancellations resulting from alleged pilot shortage, creating a circular argument: they were allegedly cancelling flights because they were short of pilots, so they then had spare airframes because there was no-one to fly them but then, there was still no-one to fly the spare because they were short of pilots and of course then they still had the spare airframes - so on and on it goes.
