I'd agree with Carrotjuice - in my experience, both BA & QF A380 products are pretty similar and so assuming equal cost, I'd go for whichever schedule suits better.
Re checking QF availability on AA's site - be aware that the QF availability initially shown is often fictitious so you need to follow through to the booking stage to verify.
