Mile clawback on closed card?

When I get a new card I immediately activate, request additional miles, then lower credit limit to $5K or so. After I meet spend, I lower to $2000 as soon as the balance is lower than that and then close it after that and once the miles post.
I closed couple of accounts (AA Plat opened using mailers) yesterday and each time, CSR said that you can use miles for 6 to 8 weeks after closure and then they will disappear!!!! I know Citi does not clawback, but got a bit alarmed when was told same thing by two different CSRs . I know, I know, CSR are not reliable, but just wanted to check: Is Citi changing this game? Probably not, but wanted to check with fellow churners

Cheers!
