Of course, the 26-story tower never happened. But it makes sense that the site of the Diamond Wing could be used more intensively, and thus more profitably.
The Westin is a weird hotel because it's basically three hotels crammed into a tiny lot. There simply isn't enough space in the common areas to accomodate all of the guests.
