Yes and no. It's
$100 max per transaction, not per gift card. So if you want to buy $25 gift cards, you might be able to buy 4 of them at one time I guess. But what's the point of buying smaller than $100 gift cards if it's $100 max per transaction (to have it count for reimbursement)?
Even though it's not as bad as Delta (which caps gift card redemptions at 3 per flight purchase), AA still limits you to 8 gift cards per flight purchase. So why limit yourself by buying more smaller gift cards instead of $100 gift cards?
