Don't expect QR agents to have a lot of knowledge about xONEx fares, how they work, what the rules are, etc. And that could work both with you (they don't know that whatever it is that you're requesting isn't permitted) and against you (they don't know the rules, so it's easier to say that your requested change isn't permitted so they don't get left paying for their mistake).
