I did not choose my mileage program for OneWorld Airlines wisely. I chose Avios, which was not easy for reward flights redemption. I should have chosen Alaska MP. So, I do not want to make a mistake again.
With any ffp you generally have a better chance of an award on the airline of your ffp. But some ffp's can have carrier surcharges (like BAEC avios).
Long-haul transatlantic biz award flights are hard with most(all?) ffp's. More people want them than available.
Having a low balance in a ffp can mean expiry can/will be a problem.

AS is not a OneWorld airline, but has many OW partners. And in the past had many more partners. AS was a very
good catch all ffp until ~18 months ago. But the AS award chart is very prescribed/restrictive. Some make it work OK
