Thank you for your report bombnthud. I booked 4 nights for October--one paid, one points, and two free (Chase and Kimpton promo). As others have mentioned the 2 free nights confirmation clearly states no additional fees or taxes. The points and paid nights show the resort fee (one says $60 the other $70) + 10% service fee. Never in my life have i paid $500 for one hotel night, lowest category room (total after all the fees/tax). If they're upgrading even with no paid nights, I may reconsider and change the paid night to points. Really don't want to have to challenge them at checkout on fees for the nights where my confirmation says there are none. If staying on all free nights and given an upgrade, I can live with paying their fees.
