Two hours is doable, though probably not leisurely if the incoming flight is delayed. Immigration, recover bags , Customs, recheck bags, go to new terminal (likely C, possibly A) and gate.

DFW-SAT flights are frequent, so if your friend misses their connection AA would still reaccommodate on the next flight with available seats. If your friend can’t get the next DFW-SAT flight reticketed without charges, I’d suggest assisting with information from this thread’s Wikipost and links, etc.
