This is what I do.
I'm annoyed at Starbucks now. You're supposed to get a free item for your birthday. This year they made the free item redeemable only on my birthday, not for a week or two like usual.

I am almost at the 300 requalifying threshold for Gold and its 2.5 months after my requalifying date. I have a Birthday reward plus 2 more after the challenge which one will be redeemed at the airport next week.
I have been really benefitting from the program and laugh to myself when I see peolle pay with cash as for the same amount I get free refills free rewards etc Plus I use their WiFI and enjoy getting work done.
Sounds like an awful amount of trouble to go through for a $5 coffee.
