Erm, what? That's simply not true. I'm not sure what type of redneck town you live in but there's hundreds of Mexican plated cars in the US and yeah you might get looked at but immigration agents? Really?
Hell, I drove around with my Costa Rican plated motorcycle for 2 months in the US and was never stopped except border control. Heck, even my plane with a Costa Rican registration which I agree would raise suspicions has NEVER been checked or been called on immigration except at CBP when coming into the US.
