It's a very good thought corrupted by extremely lazy implementation. BA went for the easiest transfer which means from domestic as they therefore do not need to worry about security screening or immigration. As a result, they often have spare capacity and will give the jag transfer to some passengers with hours to transfer, and low status and travel class. At the exact same times, some GGL flying F on badly delayed first flights will be left to miss their flight with no help whatsoever. (of course, this can even affect the very same passengers facing a far more critical connection on their way back who won't understand why they were escorted outbound when they absolutely didn't need it and are left to hang like old socks on the way back where the priority transfer would have prevented them from missing their connection and being delayed for hours if not by an entire day.

Welcome to BA's reality of half-baked measures, which is really a shame because if this were implemented well, this would bring BA at least closer to their big rivals AF and LH on some part of the F ground service experience. At the moment, this is absolutely not the case unless you come from a domestic flight which means only a small proportion of passengers in only one direction.
