If your SAN-DFW is delayed then it's highly likely you'd be rebooked on the SAN-LHR nonstop. Not that that's necessarily a good option, as BA's business class is garbage, but it would get you to London the same day

In situations like this you need to be very proactive though. If you're sitting in the lounge at SAN and notice the flight to DFW getting delayed, then ask immediately about getting rebooked on the nonstop.
