I have a question about how I should fill out my employment history.
I've essentially been doing the same job since October 1999. However, the company I was hired at (let's call it Company A) was acquired by Company B in 2008. Then around 2014 or 2015 Company B split into two companies, Company B and Company C and I was with Company C. Then again in 2017 part of Company C (my part) spun off and joined another company to form brand new Company D.
I've worked on the same accounts and largely with the same people since 1999 and as far as I know my current employer Company D sees me as someone who has 18+ years with the company, but at the same time I've had 4 different company names on my paychecks.
I was going to just put that I've been working with Company D since 1999 and explain at the interview the hiring, merging, splitting and then the spin-merging if it came up, but I'm concerned that since Company D has only been in existence since 2017 it might raise red flags if I say I've been with them since 1999. Is this something that might torpedo the background check? Should I proceed to use Company D only or break things out to show Company A 1999-2008, Company B 2008-2015, Company C 2015-2017, and Company D 2017-Present?
