From what I understand you need a boarding pass and if asked ID to go through security and enter the "secure side". For The Restricted side of the airport, NO PAX is allowed unless under escort by Certified Airline employee or security agent. Once on the secure side and your circumstances change with regards to your flight, you are not violating any regs if your current boarding pass becomes void due to unforeseen circumstances which could be many.
