Looking at the maps now it does appear what was known as the South Pier of T3 has been notionally included as part of "T4" with the recent redevelopment. I had not realized - my belief was Gate 12 was still in "T3". I do note that the old gate numbers have been retained.

When I first flew out of MEL in the late 80's there were no Terminal numbers. There was the "Qantas" Terminal (now T1) , "Ansett" Terminal (T3) and the "International" Terminal (T2).

When VA (or then DJ, Virgin Blue) moved to where they are now about one and a half decades ago, it still comprised the Two Piers, being Gates 1 to 10 in the North Pier and Gates 11+ in the South Pier.

From the early 00's until a few years ago T4 was a large shed completely detached and 100 yards from the main building. T3 was gates 1-11+.

So I have edited my posts to clarify.
