Just done similar with my 80 year old mother to JFK. She thought we were CW and didn't realise we were First until on the plane (and yes we did use the CCR).

When in New York try to do the Empire State at night (opens until after midnight). Also book tickets for the Freedom Tower - we went up in the morning for spectacular views. Enjoy
