In the case of IRROPS, we do have the ability to escalate the issue to get rental cost refunded. It's subject to the approval of the rental agency, but so far we've had good results. We're actually using the same system that powers the Chase and Citi points booking portals, so your experience with their policies may translate over to the new Slash Deals product. (It never hurts to have travel insurance, though.)
In many cases, if your flight is delayed beyond closing time, you can simply pick up the following morning without issue.
