Better, and worse.
TK miles expire 3 years after you earn them. It doesn't matter if you're flying TK every week, if you haven't spent the miles you earnt 3 years ago, then they are gone.
UA miles, potentially, never expire. Technically they expire after 18 months, but it's 18 months with no action on your account - not 18 months after you earn the miles. As long as you earn or redeem even 1 single mile, then ALL of your miles stay active for another 18 months. Do *something* every 17 months, and your miles will never expire (there's an entire thread around here somewhere with idea on how to earn/redeem tiny amounts of miles for this reason).
