It seems some are confusing thick paper stock with the question at hand which is why AA uses the pre-printed ticket stock. Some carriers just use a plain white thick paper stock and all the details are printed etc whereas AA uses a pre-printed thick paper and just the details that for that pax are printed. People have speculated printer and that may be part of it but it may well be the software isn't capable or would mean a major change to be able to print the description as well. We all know that changes in software isn't up AA's alley.....anyone used their mobile app?
