Have never had to pay anything at KUL (Y), CGK (J) or HKG (J) when wanting to take an earlier flight. I assume the tickets have been reasonably expensive, and no change fees have ever been mentioned.

SQ have been very efficient every time - straight to check-in desk and I've got the BP for the earlier flight.
