There's an earlier Singapore Airlines flight from Singapore to Manila that leaves at 9am. At the moment, I don't have any hand baggage. I was wondering if I land at 6am and the 9am Singapore flight is not completely full, whether there is a chance that I can go to the Singapore counter and ask them if I can go on the earlier flight?
The 2 Singapore Airlines flights (the incoming and the outgoing out of Singapore) are two different tickets that I purchased. It's not a combined ticket.
Could I please get some inputs on this?
Flexi or non Flexi ticket?

The once I tried with a non-flexi ticket was denied politely by the check-in staff. (Not allowed by the system they say)
This was my experience the last 6 months so 3/3 denied (unless I paid the US$ 50 fee)

KUL-SIN (Apr. '18) - denied by KUL airport check in staff
BKK-SIN (Jun. '18) - earlier flight was full due to school holidays; was offered to standby for earlier flight & pay $50 fee
SIN-BKK (Jun. '18) - denied by the transfer desk at T2 ##

## This was the worst as I arrived at the airport early (from SZB) & the SQ flight was finally delayed by 1.5 hours.
It was only announced 40 mins. before the schedule departure & I missed my connecting flight at BKK.
I wrote in to SQ Feedback & all I got was an explanation of the fare rules (Econ Lite) & the reason + an apology for the flight delay.
