The bigger issue is Cathay has been restricting access to awards to partners, and reserving the bulk for Asia miles customers. I would seriously consider Asia miles over Avios as a result

Thanks for the input, was thinking of going the Philippines and seems CX has lots of flights there.
Its crazy in the past 10 yrs or so I've only flown AC or LH. I feel so uninformed about other Airlines.
