I disagree that Hampton Inns are "consistent." Some are definitely more upscale than others. Some include things like microwaves and fridges as standard, others don't. Some include studio suites in the mix of rooms, others don't. Etc.

Also, consistency is not always a good thing. Some Best Westerns I've stayed at are quirky and delightful, and no Hampton Inn would or could ever be like them. Hampton Inns are generally OK but pretty boring.

Finally, sometimes saving money is important, especially in the more expensive places. BW does tend to be less expensive than other certain other chains in the same location.
