Why would you get fewer TPs on AA flight number vs BA codeshare?

The avios may be a little less as AA pay slightly less on cabin bonuses for some selling classes. However the avios difference isn't much, for example a BA silver in I class on LHR-JFK earns 6,916 if on a BA codeshare and 6,041 if on an AA flight number.
