I don't think I've ever been as cold as I was in Helsinki doing the same walk in February, even with a coat - the walkway is somewhat sheltered but there's a bit of a nip in the air when it's -17. Definitely second the recommendation though, it's a nice hotel and couldn't be more convenient.
