If it's on one ticket, you would need to specifically ask CX if you didn't want to check it through. If it's on separate tickets, the opposite - CX will check it through if you ask.

For peace of mind you may wish to collect it at LHR anyway - since you are presumably going to a hotel rather than trying to sleep in T3.
