Mid-july is effectively now... Might a last-minute upgrade be a cheaper alternative?

As for business class not being worth it for a shorthaul flight, it sounds like OP or companion might find this to be a novel experience if not commonly flying business. I wouldn't minimize the enjoyment one can derive from even the shortest premium cabin experience. Zone 1 alone, or the maple leaf lounge might be enough.
