Possibly, but last I had checked, you couldn't buy tickets through NS online with a foreign credit card, so I was forced to buying on B-Europe (to have in advance). Still don't have OV-Chipkaart, though I should probably get one at this point
AMS Centraal gates were always closed after a certain time of the day, if you buy tickets online you should be getting a QR code which you can scan at some of the gates to enter.
I don't remember ever seeing the gates closed. I know the QR code works at other stations, just didn't remember seeing this happen at Centraal. Does a QR code from any operator work considering it's NS who puts up the fare gates?
