Partly comes down to the Panasonic ex3 screens include an 3.5mm headphone socked in the screen, but the NZ CAA doesn't allow passengers to have cables crossing an pathway durring take off and landing. Therefore NZ to be able to offer Gate2Gate IFE they are required to install an headphone jack in the arm rest too.
