Terranea Resort is about 45 min drive if traffic is good. There are a few big hotels (Hilton, Hyatt) at Huntington Beach on PCH. Of course there are the Disney Resorts inland, but there will be lots of kids. Down south near Dana Point you have the Monarch and Ritz Carlton.
