BA/AA to JFK out- PHL back £602
Air Lingus (or ASL as i would HAVE to take back from PHL) - £448
What would you do? I was sort of hoping for a sale but as this does not look likely this year, im going to have to go on one of these roots. The only thing that scares me about the last option is that so many friends have lost stuff on Air lingus AND the reviews of ASL are dire.
I don't understand the hate for Aer Lingus from the other posters really.
I've flown them transatlantic and found them to be fine - both in economy class and business class. Actually, their business class is pretty great - from the free on board Wi-Fi (on A330s) to the food and service, it's very good indeed.
While the 757 is operated by ASL on a lease agreement, this covers the aircraft and the pilots. The cabin crew and on board service are exactly the same as the rest of the fleet.
When it comes to the seats, the aircraft were completely refurbished when they went into Aer Lingus service. The Boeing 757s have the same lie flat seats as the A330s in business class and the same seats in economy as far as I am aware.
For your worry about Aer Lingus losing baggage, I'd be very surprised if it happened. They are a world class outfit, so your baggage has as much chance as making it with you as if you had flown any other airline.
While I'm based in Dublin, I am not biased as I usually fly BA and I am originally from Australia. Just FYI.
