Manila NAIA T3 Departure Advice

My wife & son are due to fly out of NAIA T3 in just over a week.

They are both US Citizens holding US passports.

They are traveling on CX906 on 7/18 with a 10:50am schedule departure time. Their connecting flight to the US is about 5 hours later so that gives them enough time for delays, transiting, to rest, etc,.

They will be coming from Taguig City.

Looking for advice that would make their departure more comfortable.

They initially wanted to leave home (Taguig) around 6am - it is on a Wednesday morning.

Would that give them enough time to get thru traffic and Security?

That would be about 2 hours in traffic & 3 hours thru the various immigration departure lines.

Or should they leave a little earlier?

They don't mind spending time in the terminal waiting.

I read somewhere that if you arrive too early (more than 3 hours) they will not let you check-in, not sure how true that is.

Last time we left Manila (about 6 yrs ago) there was a departure fee or travel tax (don't remember which one) to pay. Now I assume that these taxes are now part of the ticket price - flight originated from the US (this is the return trip).

Any advice is welcome to make their departure from T3 as comfortable or as less hassle as possible.
