hence the part of my quip that states: "The guarantee was totally oversold..." i lay equal blame on the store that, as i said, oversold the luggage guarantee. perhaps retailers of this line need better coaching/tracking?
the cut the suitcase has i have never had on even cheaper pieces i have owned over the years, which undermines the claims of the fabric's durability. and this piece has only a few miles on it, so to speak.
so i stand by my issue and am happy we can share our experiences as it helps balance out the market, most likely for the better, and i am glad to hear you as consumer (or employee) can attest to the product's qualities, cuz it is good for me too, being that i own several pieces, and given the cost, will hang on to them as long as possible
1) guarantee was/is oversold - blame can be % at different levels
2) fabric not as durable as claimed
Sorry to hear about your "cut" Recently in a regional jet was happy that my bag squeezed in with a little encouragement. Sadly got a scuff that didn't seem to come out, now why didn't our costco or hartmann of two decades show, no clue.. just move alone, it's luggage it will be abused. Buy quality so it never lets you down while traveling, or buy twice and what could be the worst thing a real wear failure on the road in some foreign land ( handle, wheels, zippers etc. )
I remember a post here about terrible finish and posted a picture of a dangling seam and asked if it was a defect, sadly my BR showed the same defect, wasn't too happy. Tend to agree when you pay that much should have what looks like incomplete stitching, but going on 400K+ and it is holding together, not to mention being dragged on cobbled sidewalks, miles and miles in subways and terminals, lifted fully packed by the handle with a 30lb backpack attached. I think if you look hard you can also see the fabric blemish / scuff as well, but still going strong as day 1.
I often see many high end with plastic sleeves at the airport, probably what you need for your check-in. I'm actually wanting my Tumi leather to wear, but that is me, strange I guess.
