How very strange?
What's strange about keeping the blinds closed to help keep the cabin at a comfortable temperature?
And it's rather rare to find domestic F cabins anything less than full on AA, DL or UA. Flying upfront on a domestic US flight? Expect every seat to be filled.

Punctilious: "showing great attention to detail or correct behavior."
Going through the motions: "to do something without any enthusiasm or commitment."
Which was it?
