Doing them at the same time used to be OK because you could always cancel them if you got a combination of points / discount in one city. But now, unless you do a flexible BRG, you’ll be stuck with the possibility of your BRGs being invalid if you choose the points and you chose the discount BRG in the same city. So now it requires careful planning - if you’re looking for more than 2 nights in the same city it’s almost always better to get the discount. But yes, plan and put the claims in carefully.
