I’ve had to do this before but we were both FOs at the time so I didn’t have to worry about loosing an UG but according to agents I have spoken with the DL system reads anyone traveling with you as a companion (even if the companion is a medallion) and it counts towards your 1 additional companion and the only way to add more is to split the reservation. Good to know that the UG won’t be taken away, I’ll try and call tomorrow if the UG clears and see what they say.

This is correct, if the companion is on the same PNR weather they have a lower status level or no status will be at the same UG priority as the highest medallion for FC and C+. If the companion is on a different PNR, the companion will clear last (after FO’s) and is only eligible for FC. (no C+ for some strange reason that I don’t understand why)
