You are missing that the qualifying miles for MM are not necessarily equal to MQM earned.
Since the merger my MQM and MM balances tracked exactly. I stopped paying attention once I reached 2MM as I will not reach 3MM but up to then they tracked.
Are there now any MQMs that don't earn MM or vice versa? (I realize in earlier times the rules were different)
