They're entitled to rebook in D1. D1 is an actual different product from F. Should be no pushback. Rebooking system doesn't know it's caused a downgrade. AFA it's concerned, OP is still in the premium cabin.

Agree on the last part. Would have a case, but most likely no, however doesn't hurt to ask.
