Just a quick update on my trip in December to SIN... checked my itinerary today and was told to contact UA since the return segment SIN -> LAX could no longer be confirmed.

Short story long, that route is being discontinued so I had to select a new return option. Ended up simplifying and doing SIN -> SFO -> YYZ instead to save me around 10 hours of layover and flight time at the cost of 500 fewer PQMs and no access to the *A Lounge at LAX. Interestingly my SIN -> SFO is now ticketed as a W (from a K) does that impact upgrades in any way? For instance I see in the upgrade award chart that the copay on a W fare is $550 instead of $600. Can I call UA to get that money refunded or does that happen automagically? The agent transferred my upgrade award to this updated itinerary and mentioned that around 15% of J is booked so my chances on upgrade are good (currently showing R/RN 0 on UA for the flight).

BuyUp offers for outbound remain the same as before so nothing to update there (same fare classes as well).
