New awards effective Aug. 1. You can book the new rates beginning Aug. 1 for anytime after Aug. 1, 2018 through 2019. If the rates go up Aug. 1, then you book NOW to lock in current rates.
Aug. 1 - Dec. 31, 2018 is the period to cash in on Cat 7 SPG hotels that are going to be Cat 8 in the new categories. All Cat 7 SPG hotels will be Cat 7 in the new program until Dec. 31 then go up to Cat 8 Jan. 1, 2019.
If you want to vacation at an SPG Cat 7 hotel, then you should consider before Dec. 31.
