I booked a round trip business class ticket from Atlanta to Serbia last Thanksgiving on TA when they were on sale for around $1400 via Expedia. The departure flight is 6/29. The trip was planned for a week my kids would be with their mom. In the time since I booked the ticket, her situation changed and I now have full custody of my kids. I cannot take the trip this week under the circumstances and am hoping to find another future time to change the ticket to. I need it to be during the school year so my parents can take care of kids easier and the further back the better so my kids have more time to get settled into this new routine. I talked to Expedia and they talked to TA. My understanding is that I have to change to another business (F) class fare, will have to pay $200, and the difference in fare between current ticket and new ticket. I cannot bank my ticket for a future booking.
All help would be appreciated. I’m in southeast US but somewhat flexible on departing airport. I’m also flexible on ultimate destination in Europe. My thought was to find as close a comparable business class far to Istanbul and buy new tickets from their if needed. But the cheapest I’m finding on my google flight searches is around $3000 - which means I’m out of pocket another $1800.
