Definitely in the past year AC’s PY has been much reduced in the quality of the experience. The removal of the curtain really wrecked any sense of a separate cabin. On my last PY flight the steady stream of Y pax heading to the toilet got to be quite ridiculous. It just never stopped. And then, the wonderful irony that the elevator to the YYZ domestic MLL has a wrap-around photo of the PY cabin complete with a closed curtain to emphasize the specialness of the cabin.

To answer the OP, having flown AC and BA in PY I would say that BA was superior in most respects. As long as all your expectation is that you get a wider seat with more legroom, then you will find PY to be more than adequate on AC.
