Does anyone have any suggestions for similarly priced hotels in Hanoi, which would be worth considering? I also looked at the Lotte hotel which has great reviews or the Sheraton.

I usually stay at Hilton hotels, but the Hilton Opera seems to be too run down and overpriced, so am exploring some other options.

Location on is not so important as we will be doing some day trips out of town and I can manage sitting in a cab for bit to visit the old town.
If you are looking for a branded property, my contribution:

Hilton is, errrrr, well-used rather run-down. It may be a subtle difference, but it's a very popular city centre land-mark/icon. A very typical older-style Hilton and very conveniently located.

Of the two IC hotels, the Westlake property has to be the one preferred. It's where I stay when my budget permits.

The Sheraton in Westlake is not a good choice.

There's a plethora of independent "boutique" hotels at just about all price points. Contributions within this thread/forum, and on Tripadvisor, should help.
