“Right sizing” is another wonderful one. But yes, it was BAs PR on constant cut backs a few years back, a number of which have been reinstated.
What tends to be widely remembered is the cutting back/enhancing rather than the reinstatement/de-enhancement.
Many great brands and companies over the years suffered long term damage when the accountants took over, despite much of the cuts being subsequently reversed.
A good example is Mercedes. My father to this day refuses to buy a Merc - his youthful dream brand - again after the havoc wrought by seemingly harmless quality cuts in the (I think) 90’s. Despite being reversed, the damage was done.
