I am a first-time Cathay flyer, I transferred Amex points to Asia Miles to a round trip from IAD to HKG. The reward was not available, but I was waitlisted for it. I received a text and email from Cathay that "Your booking on Business Class of CX861 (IADHKG), 27Feb19 has been confirmed. Please check details on manage booking and issue ticket before 17/02/2019 22:00."
Whenever I try to log into the website to confirm, it hangs for ten minutes or I get one of several database errors. The most recent time I tried to confirm the booking and pay my fees online, I got the following message "
- Our records indicate that you have not issued a ticket for this booking. Please contact Asia Miles Service Hotline to issue the ticket before 09:00, 17 Feb (IAD time). "Otherwise your booking will be invalid and will automatically be cancelled without further notice.
I have tried to reach the Asia Miles phone number and the Cathay number and I get through every tenth time I try or so and get told by each side that I have to deal with the other one.
Bottom line, I have an email saying that I can manage the booking and I need to figure out how to do so and lock it in.
Any and all advice including phone numbers that might work more regularly from the US would be most appreciated!
